Estates

This course deals with the preparation of will, powers of attorney and the administration of estates. This includes the collection, realization and management of the assets of the deceased and after settlement of the debts of the estate, the payment of legacies and the distribution of the residue to the beneficiaries. Knowledge of the documents to be filed to obtain the required court grant of letters testamentary, preparation of estate accounts, administration of ongoing trusts and the preparation of income tax returns, and estate related litigation are all areas associated with this field. This course is especially appropriate for those currently employed as law clerks or experienced legal assistants.

The Estates course is offered annually, and this time around will run from February – June. 

ATTENDANCE: Attendance is mandatory. Students are expected to attend class on a regular basis.

ILCO is pleased to offer the 2023 Associate Estates Law Course via live Webinar sessions, starting February 7th, 2023 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The Associate Estates Law course runs for 16 weeks on Tuesdays until May 30th, 2023, please note there will be no classes on March 14th, 2023. The registration fee is $450 + HST, which includes Syllabus.
