Program Information

This course provides the student with a broad foundation of legal concepts and applications relevant to the legal practice area of residential real estate. All aspects of the basic residential real estate transaction are covered including land division in Ontario, the many faceted land registration system, surveys, title insurance, ownership, the agreement of purchase and sale, the numerous applicable statutes, purchasing, selling, financing, closing the transaction, etc. This course is especially appropriate for those currently employed as law clerks or experienced legal assistants.

Course Instructor: This course is instructed by Scott Martyn, Partner at Bennett Jones

Attendance: Attendance is mandatory. Classes will not be recorded. Students are expected to attend class on a regular basis.

Course Fee: $450.00 +HST. The Real Estate Associate Syllabus is included with course registration.

Exam Date: January 26th, 2025 (online)

Important Information: The exam registration is separate from the course registration. Registration for each exam will open in advance of the exam date. Please check the website for updates or email education@ilco.on.ca.

There is no post-exam review and appeal process for exams.

ILCO is pleased to offer the Associate Real Estate Course via live Webinar sessions via Zoom. The Real Estate course runs 19 weeks and starts Tuesday September 2nd, 2025 - January 20th 2026 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. 

Please note there will be no classes on December 23rd & 30th, 2025.
