Independent Member

We recognize that you may provide your services an independent contractor. This membership class offers the opportunity to stay connected with the Law Clerk community.

You may be admitted as an Independent Member if:

1. Are in Qualifying Employment for a period of not less than three (3) consecutive years immediately prior to the date of seeking such admission.
2. Attained the age of twenty-one (21) years.
3. Provide a completed Statutory Declaration for Independent Members signed by any Principal or Lawyer supervising the Independent Member’s work.

The membership fee structure is based on a billing period from July 1 to June 30. Membership applications are generally processed each month. The annual fee is not pro-rated.

2025-2026 ILCO Independent Membership Fee: $230 + HST = $259.90

Before starting this application, please ensure you have electronic copies of the following documents. These documents will be uploaded as part of the application process.

1. Completed and signed Statutory Declaration.
2. Resume listing your current and past employment duties as a Law Clerk.
3. A copy of the diploma(s), transcript(s) or grade report(s).
