2021 Associate Estates course

This course deals with the preparation of will, powers of attorney and the administration of estates. This includes the collection, realization and management of the assets of the deceased and after the settlement of the debts of the estate, the payment of legacies and the distribution of the residue to the beneficiaries. Knowledge of the documents to be filed to obtain the required court grant of letters testamentary, preparation of estate accounts, administration of ongoing trusts and the preparation of income tax returns, and estate-related litigation are all areas associated with this field. This course is especially appropriate for those currently employed as law clerks or experienced legal assistants.

2025 FELLOWSHIP ESTATE ACCOUNTING COURSE

The Course will address the various aspects of estate accounting from consideration of the relevant legislation and common law principles, through the preparation of estate accounts to a passing of accounts. It will include such topics as distinguishing between capital and income, unusual entries, problem areas, estate trustee compensation and accounting for a power of attorney for property. Informal accounting where a passing of accounts will also be dealt with, as well as requirements under the Estate Administration Tax regulations.

ILCO is pleased to offer the 2025 Fellowship Estate Accounting Course via live Webinar sessions, starting September 8, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Fellowship Real Estate Course runs for 9 weeks on Wednesdays until November 3, 2025.

ATTENDANCE POLICY: Attendance is mandatory. Classes will not be recorded. Students are expected to attend class on a regular basis.
